Jillibean Project Share

Hey scrappy peeps!!  It's Wednesday and I am so not excited that it's a long weekend. HA!  Yep, and I am taking Friday off to make it even longer!

I thought I would share my projects that I did for the Therm O Web/Jillibean Soup swap from a couple of weeks ago.  I was sent the Bohemian Brew collection and some Mix the Media products to work with.

First up the layout I created.  I seem to be on a "square in a square" kick after looking at my last few projects!  But that's ok, I can mix it up now that I have noticed it!

To see step out photos and how I put this layout together, visit my post on the Therm O Web blog HERE.

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Die Cuts-Jillibean Soup; Twine-May Arts; Adhesives, DecoFoil, Clear Toner Sheets-Therm O Web; Doilies-American Crafts

This was one of the pictures from our photo shoot after we found out Ella had cancer.  The pink in the foil made those pink flowers pop in the picture.  Not to mention my purple hair!  LOL

Then you know me, I love to have fun with my titles.  Doesn't matter if it's a play on words, or if it's just the arrangement on the page!  I wrapped some twine thru this one!

Then I had received a hanging canvas to work with. So I took the Woof, Woof, Meow fabric collection from Moda that I had received awhile back and used that to make my canvas.  BTW, this is a NO SEW project!

Supplies: Hanging Canvas, Felt Flowers, Pattern Paper-Jillibean Soup; Adhesives-Therm O Web; Fabric-Moda; Silhouette Cameo with cutting file; Sharpie Pen; Font-Lobster.

I used my Cameo to cut the letters out of the fabric.  After I got them ironed on, I wanted the white letters to stand out more.  So, Sharpie pen to the rescue!  It works on layouts, so why not fabric?!!

Shhh...I may have a stockpile of those felt flowers!!  LOL  I added some pattern paper vines, since some of the flowers don't come with leaves.

That's all from me today!!  I probably won't be back until next week.  But then again, I may surprise you!  Have a great Wednesday!!

Delightful You with Channel Announcement!!

I did it!  I set a goal for this year and it's taken me five months, but I finally have a youtube channel WITH a video to share on it!!!  A little excited, a little nervous and a whole lot of work to do in my future, but at least I have started!!!!

I have been thinking about a makeover for the blog and then I realized I had make a channel header for youtube. Make them match came to mind! So the blog is slowly getting a makeover. I have to thank Becca Bonneville for allowing me to use her products to decorate with!

Here is the layout that I did the video for.  Just a "for fun, no assignment" layout.  This is a fully traditional layout, no hybrid involved.  Not even a cut file on this one!!

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Stickers-PinkFresh (Dream On); Adhesive-Therm O Web; Wooden Button, Heart, Envelope-Maya Road; Enamel Dots-My Mind's Eye; Twine-May Arts; Doilies-American Crafts

Here are a few close ups of my layout

AND here is the video!  And I would love it if you would subscribe if you like what  you see!!

Art Journaling-Let's Try New Things!

Confession time, I have "bought" things before to art journal, but have never really done it.   Pretty paint, to do it in, check....stencils, markers, stamps, check.....  Fact is, coloring tends to stress me out.  Add any sort of drawing to see where this is going right?!  LOL

So according to sources, you have to practice coloring to get good at it.  I have been trying to practice as you can tell from a few posts that I have made.  So, it's not stressing me out quite as bad as it used to.

Which leads to my project share today.  My first art journal page, but it's a hybrid one!  This eliminated my fear of drawing things, just print, color and glue them down!  Add things digitally to the background until I like it and wham!  LOL

Supplies: Digital Supplies-Dawn Inskip, Little Butterfly Wings, Lynne-Marie (all from The Lilypad); Paper-Canson Mixed Media; Printer-Canon Laser Printer; Glitter-Target; Ribbon-May Arts; Adhesive-Therm O Web; Markers-Zig Clean Color; Silhouette Cameo with print and cut

I had an idea and I wanted to see if it would work and it mostly did!!  I printed my background just on my regular sized Epson inkjet printer and also did some print and cut elements with my Cameo.  Then I took the black and white .png element files from the digital kits I used and printed them on some mixed media paper on my laser printer.  I knew if I used the inkjet, the black would just bleed if I tried to watercolor on it. Since the laser printer is an actual toner, I thought it might work and it did!!!  There was a "little" smearing but nothing that you can really tell!  This I can do!

So, the girl and the hush bubble were what I printed on the laser printer and then I just hand cut them out.  The mixed media paper is key (or something similar) because you want it to hold up to water.  Here are the marker colors I used:
  • 24 wine red
  • 26 light pink
  • 36 light blue
  • 49 green shadow
  • 69 blush
  • 71 flesh
  • 82 purple
  • 83 lilac
  • 97 pale green
And then I decided I wanted glitter on it.  Don't ask me why, I try to stay away from the stuff.  So, I smeared a little glue around in spots and then just poured the glitter on the page.  I put a piece of paper over it and then smashed it down.  I did tap the excess off (or parts that didn't stick) into the trash can...well, mostly!   Added a few more things and called it good!

And this page was a page to me, reminding me to calm myself and it will be ok.  I am just going to say, I have been having some issues with anxiety over the past few months since Mom passed.  I have never had trouble with it before and it took a few months for me to realize what was going on, but I can say it's not fun.  I have been working thru it and have been doing things to help reduce it.  It's not all the time and it's not really triggered by anything that I can tell.  It just happens. And it stifles my creative side, which gives you a little insight as in what has been going on.

So, have a great week and I will be back with a few projects using Jillibean Soup this week!

Happy NSD!!! Paw of Approval-Hybrid Layout

Hey there scrappy peeps!  Happy NSD.  I meant to get this post up last night, but the schedule didn't work!  Opps, I think it was my fault!

Anyway, I have a couple of hybrid projects to share with you today that I did for a challenge over at The Lilypad.  You should come and play, because my challenge there is a 10.00 gift certificate up for grabs to a random person that plays!!

You can find my challenge HERE.

And here is my first project, just a hybrid layout with some old pictures of Higgins.  Gosh, I miss that boy.

Supplies: Digital Kit-Becca Bonneville & Crystal Livesay (A Dog's Life); Paper-Red River Linen; Adhesive-Therm O Web; Silhouette Cameo with print and cut; Doilies-American Crafts

Here I just sized down that journaling card to fit mostly in that framed area.  Isn't that pupper cute?!!  Love him!

And this alpha, swoon!!  I love that it come in two different colors.  And bonus, I won't run out of the letters I use all the time!!  Win, win I think!  You could make these look even more like chipboard letters and just cut them out a couple of times and adhere the layers with the iCraft Mixed Media Adhesive.  I used the DecoFoil Foam Adhesive here, but I am doing the layers next time!

That's all today, tomorrow I will share my first art journaling page.  It's a hybrid for the challenge, but it's the first time I have attempted anything like it!  Have a great and scrappy weekend!!!

Amber LaBau Designs Template Challenge Hybrid Layout

Hey there!  I am back today to share my hybrid layout that I made for the template challenge over on Amber LaBau Designs blog!  You can find the challenge template HERE.   And you can find Amber's products in The Lilypad digital store HERE.   You might even recognize some of the designs, because she does some work for Fancy Pants!

So here's my hybrid take on the digital template.  I actually just followed the template picture and cut everything.  I didn't use my Silhouette or Photoshop to put the layout together.  I already had the papers from My Tribe printed from previous layouts, so I just ended up needing to print some of the elements from the digital kit to add to my project.

Supplies: Digital Kit-Amber LaBau Designs (My Tribe); Paper-Red River Linen; Adhesive-Therm O Web; Silhouette Cameo with Print and Cut; Epson 1430 Wide Format Printer

One of my favorite things I have started doing is to print two of elements that I want to use and then stack them with foam adhesive.  It give them a little fun and unique look.

Here I actually started with the butterfly on the picture and then just started tucking stuff in behind the picture after that!  I had no plan, well, I usually don't!  LOL

And then I thought it needed a little journaling, so I just took some scraps of paper, a pen and went to work!  I like outlining journaling strips like this.  I just wish I could doodle better!

Well, that's all from me today.  Hope it's a great one!  And try the template challenge, it's a fun one!

Deco Foil, Therm O Web and Brutus Monroe Share

Hi my scrappy peeps!  Therm O Web has teamed up with Brutus Monroe and we are all sharing our projects over on the Therm O Web blog.  I made a couple of cards that I wanted to share here today.

I made this card and totally did not take any step out photos!  I got so involved with coloring and trying not to mess up that I just forgot!

Supplies: Cardstock-Gina K Designs; Watercolor Paper-Strathmore 400 Series: Adhesive-Therm O Web; Sequins-Unknown: Wooden Enamel Dots-My Mind's Eye; Foil-Deco Foil in Spring Green; Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheet-Branching Out; Circle Dies-My Favorite Things and Lawn Fawn; Ink-VersaFine Onyx Black; Stamp-Brutus Monroe; Markers-Zig Clean Color Real Brush

Now, I am going to say coloring just hasn't been my thing, but I really have been trying at it (not really showing anything unless I have too!)  It stresses me out and just is not relaxing for me.  I had bought a few of the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers back when they first came out and I ended up giving them to my bestie, Juliana Michaels, who can rock the coloring!  Then I decided I wanted to try again not long ago, so I ended up buying the entire set.  Honestly, I think it makes it easier for me to have every color, so I don't overthink how I am going to do something!

AND I even wrote down the colors I used!  LOL  Here's the list:
  • 64  Oatmeal
  • 92  Blue Grey
  • 97  Pale Grey
  • 70  Orange
  • 36  Light Blue
  • 31 Cobalt Blue
  • 68 Deep Brown
  • 45 Pale Green
The thing I found is that I need to use a paint brush with them and a little water.  It makes it easier for this "herculetta" to work with!  I tend to press hard when I write, color, etc and a very small paint brush makes it easier for me!

And here is my other card.  You can find full step outs over on the Therm O Web blog HERE.  I used Catherine Pooler inks for the background and stamping.  I think I love them!!

Supplies: Cardstock-Gina K Designs; Adhesive-Therm O Web; Deco Foil-Shatter Glass Silver; Deco Foil Transfer Gel; Doily-Unknown; Dies-Lawn Fawn: Stamps-Brutus Monroe; Sequins-Unknown; Twine-American Crafts; Ink-Verasfine Onyx Black and Catherine Pooler in Orange Twist, Aquatini; and Party Dress

I used the Brutus Monroe stencil with the Deco Foil transfer gel to create the silver dotted background.  I have to say, the transfer gel is one of my favorite ways to use Deco Foil!

That's all I have for you today.  Be sure to head over to the Therm O Web blog, there may be a giveaway, I am not sure!!!  Have a scrappy kind of day!

What Would You Want To See?

So, I posted this photo over on my Instagram account.  You can follow me on Instagram HERE.   And well, you should because I post cute dog pics, sneaks for things I am working on and random selfies! LOL

Yep, that's a tripod to start filming videos of my projects!  Now, I don't know how many videos I will do all the time, I am not going to promise any number a week!  And at first, it may only be one, every once in awhile or for Therm O Web's channel.  BUT I am doing this!  It's been a goal for awhile now, and Carleen got me a tripod beyond my dreams for Christmas so that I can do it!

What do you want to see?  How long of a video would you sit thru?  I am going to say, the videos will be sped up some, because I am slow when I am doing a project and I don't know of anyone that wants to sit thru a three hour video of me making a layout and rambling on!

I will also being mixing in screen captures, along with the project videos, for Silhouette tips, hybrid, etc.

So, let me know what you think, want to see, or any ideas you might have!!!  I have the lights, camera, and mic, so now it's ACTION time!!

Have a great Tuesday!
